Don't drive through floodwaters - NADMO issues warning
Richard Amuyatey, Director of the Inspectorate Division at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), urged the public to avoid any contact with floodwaters on Monday, June 29, as parts of Accra continue to experience rising water levels. Speaking on Joy FM's Super Morning Show, he stated, "We are on the ground and responding to all situations. What they need is to stay indoors where they are and stay safe." He cautioned residents against walking through flooded areas and warned motorists and riders not to drive through submerged roads.
Heavy overnight rains triggered severe traffic congestion across Accra on Monday, June 29, leaving several major roads heavily gridlocked. Mr. Amuyatey advised stranded commuters to seek safer locations and suspend journeys, and urged residents yet to leave their homes to remain indoors.
