Anloga DCE urges proper waste management to prevent flooding after national clean-up exercise
Sandra Seyram Kpedor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Anloga, called on residents to adopt proper waste management practices to help prevent flooding and improve environmental sanitation in the district. This appeal was made during an interview with Adom News Correspondent Odehyeba Owusu during the two-day nationwide clean-up exercise initiated by President John Dramani Mahama. She stressed that indiscriminate disposal of refuse remains one of the major causes of flooding and urged residents to play their part in keeping their communities clean.
The President's directive for the nationwide clean-up campaign came at a critical time for Anloga, which was among the districts in the Volta Region severely affected by heavy downpour on June 29. The DCE noted that the flooding exposed the need for residents to take sanitation more seriously by ensuring drains are not choked with refuse and waste is disposed of at designated dumping sites. She encouraged community members to make environmental cleanliness a continuous responsibility and emphasized that maintaining clean surroundings would reduce the risk of flooding and help prevent the outbreak of sanitation-related diseases. She commended residents, youth groups, sanitation workers, and other stakeholders who participated in the exercise.
