Dorcas Affo-Toffey begins second phase of NHIS registration and renewal exercise in Jomoro
Dorcas Affo-Toffey, Member of Parliament for Jomoro, has commenced the second phase of a free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewal exercise on Thursday, May 14, 2026, in Jomoro. The exercise is aimed at expanding healthcare access for residents across the constituency. The exercise is expected to end on Friday, May 29, 2026, and targets more than 1,500 residents in the municipality.
The initiative follows the successful completion of the first phase, which was carried out from March 11 to March 30, 2026, across 17 communities in the area. The first phase recorded more than 1,000 beneficiaries, including residents who either did not possess NHIS cards or needed to renew expired cards. Communities benefiting from the second phase include Tikobo No. 1, Jaway Wharf, Sowdadzem, Elubo, Tikobo No. 2, Ahobre 1 & 2, Takinta, Egbazo, and Abusuazo. The exercise began at Tikobo No. 1 on Thursday, where large numbers of residents reportedly turned up to either register or renew their NHIS cards. Officials of the National Health Insurance Authority were unable to attend to all residents on the first day, compelling organisers to extend the exercise in the community to Friday, May 15, 2026.
