Mason goes on remand for stealing
Solomon Wereko was remanded into prison custody for unlawful entry, causing damage and stealing in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region. The Nkawie Circuit Court heard that Wereko pleaded not guilty to the three charges. The complainant, Asor Gyamfi, a trader, and Wereko were residents of Mpasatia in the Atwima Mponua District.
Police Inspector Kwaku Frimpong, prosecuting, said that on April 04, 2026, the complainant's two sons saw the suspect inside their mother's shop. The sons raised an alarm, and the complainant, along with some people, rushed to the scene. The police were called, and they arrested and detained Wereko for investigation. The prosecution stated that Wereko demonstrated how he climbed a lotto kiosk, damaged it, and entered the shop through the roof, breaking the padlock. The suspect allegedly took 14 bottles of liquid soap, 30 pairs of hand gloves, three electrical cables, and five pairs of socks, all valued at GHS 1,160, from the shop. Wereko admitted unlawful entry in his caution statement but denied causing damage and stealing.
Solomon Wereko will be brought back to court on April 22, 2026.
