Fake National Security operatives arrested over alleged mining sites raid in Western North
Fake National Security operatives were arrested recently in the Western North Region over an alleged mining sites raid in the Suaman District. Police in the Western North Region arrested four individuals and a driver for allegedly impersonating national security operatives and extorting money from miners in the Suaman District. The suspects were apprehended by the Western North Regional Police Command, led by DCOP Francis Tsidi, following intelligence reports about their activities in mining communities.
DCOP Tsidi said the group had been moving through communities such as Suiaboi, targeting mining sites. He explained that the suspects, dressed in what appeared to be National Security uniforms, demanded documentation from miners and seized items from those not actively working at the time. The individuals have been identified as Amponsah Asare Wagan, 33; Nelson Agbodzah, 28; Awedagah Norbert, 27; Francis Brefo, 35; and their driver, Benjamin Boakye, 48, who was driving a Toyota Hilux with registration number GX 1095-19.
The individuals have been handed over to the Dadieso Police Station for further investigations. DCOP Tsidi warned that while security agencies remain committed to curbing illegal mining in the region, they will not tolerate individuals impersonating security personnel to exploit or harass residents.
