When robbers attack you, give whatever they want; your life is more important - IGP tells Ghanaians
Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), advised Ghanaians to prioritize their safety during robbery attacks. On Tuesday, May 19, he made the remarks when the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana presented him with a plaque and citation in recognition of his contribution to crime fighting. According to Mr. Yohuno, victims of robbery attacks should cooperate with criminals and hand over whatever items are demanded in order to protect their lives, saying "All that we are saying is that to Ghanaians in general, if you are attacked by any criminal, whatever they want from you, just give it out to them."
The IGP stated, "If it is your mobile phone he wants to take from you, let him take it. If it is your laptop he wants to take, let him take it. If it is your money he wants to take, your life is more precious than these petty-petty items." He also said, "If you are driving your car and the criminal says he wants it, give it out to him."
Mr. Yohuno assured the public that security agencies remain committed to tracking and arresting perpetrators of violent crimes. He reiterated the Ghana Police Service's commitment to investigating unresolved crimes and ensuring offenders are brought to justice, stressing that the protection of lives remains the Service's top priority.
