The Ghana Police Service arrested three suspects in connection with a robbery incident on June 1, 2025, at Parambo Sewaba, a suburb of Yeji in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region. The incident involved three armed men allegedly attacking market women travelling from Yeji and stealing their belongings, including cash and mobile phones.
The suspects have been identified as Mohammed Ahmadu (30), Osmanu Abubakar (35) and Sumaila Mohammed (25). According to the Divisional Police Commander for Yeji, Chief Superintendent Asiamah Emmanuel, the suspects had been on police radar for some time and were allegedly involved in a series of robberies targeting traders along the Yeji-Kumasi highway, as well as routes from Yeji to Prang, Parambo and Abromase. During a search at the residence of Mohammed Ahmadu, police retrieved several offensive weapons, including six machetes, a motorbike, a tricycle and three ID cards bearing different names.
The suspects have been arraigned before the Atabubu Circuit Court and remanded into police custody for three weeks. Authorities say details of the motorbike and tricycle have been forwarded to the Techiman DVLA for verification to support ongoing investigations and prosecution.
