Francis Nsiah, a 25-year-old man, was arrested on Friday, August 7, 2026, in the Ashanti Region in connection with an alleged attempted armed robbery on the Hiakose-Newense stretch in the Manso Nkwanta District. He was arrested after seeking medical attention for a gunshot wound he allegedly sustained during the incident.
The Nkawie Divisional Police Command's operations patrol team received a distress call around 11pm reporting an armed robbery in progress. Responding officers heard gunshots and spotted one suspected robber fleeing into a bush with a bag. A subsequent search recovered an iPhone 14 and a bag. Nsiah was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his buttock and is receiving medical treatment under police guard. Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances and identify other suspects.
