St Monica's tutors trained in grant erriting as Colleges of Education strengthen research capacity
St Monica's tutors completed a two-day academic retreat on grant writing, research development, and scholarly publication in Asante-Mampong. The program, organized by the college's Social Sciences Department, included participants from St Monica's College of Education, Mampong Technical College of Education, and selected senior high schools. Organizers reported that 55 tutors participated on the first day, with attendance increasing to nearly 60 on the second day.
Professor Razak Gyasi, a facilitator, stated that research institutions increasingly depend on competitive grants due to the high cost of conducting studies, saying, "Research is very expensive and sometimes it is difficult to dip your hand into your pocket to fund the research that we conduct." He explained that the first day focused on academic writing and manuscript development, including journal expectations and publication standards. Professor Gyasi described participants as energetic and highly interactive.
