Rainstorm rips off roofs of Hwidiem Presby Basic School classrooms
A heavy rainstorm destroyed sections of the Presbyterian Basic School at Hwidiem in the Ahafo Region, ripping off the roofs of several classrooms. Headmaster Boampong Joseph told Adom News that the severe downpour completely tore off the roofs of Primary Four and Five classrooms, making teaching and learning impossible. He described the situation as urgent, calling on stakeholders, especially the Asutifi South District Assembly, to intervene immediately to restore normal academic activities.
District Chief Executive for Asutifi South District, Benjamin Assabil Donkor, visited the affected school and assured that engineers from the district assembly had been directed to assess the situation. He indicated that, at the latest by Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the assembly would complete the replacement of the destroyed roofs. Ghana Education Service (GES) Director for Asutifi South, James Frimpong Manso, expressed optimism that the District Assembly would address the situation promptly.
