Speaking on JoyNews The Pulse on Wednesday, July 1, he stated, "I don't think it is far-fetched. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is speaking from a place of justification, and for me, I think that is something worth giving deep thought to."
Mr. Awuah, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee, argued that the current flooding is unlike anything Ghana has experienced in recent years. He maintained that the magnitude of the latest disaster sets it apart from previous floods during the Akufo-Addo administration, stating, "Apart from the June 3 disaster that killed over 150 people, have you seen this magnitude of disaster resulting from flooding in this country before? It's never happened." He added that the full extent of the destruction is yet to be determined.
