Accra Floods: GRA extends tax filing deadline to July 6
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) extended the deadline for filing selected tax returns following severe flooding caused by recent heavy rains in Accra and surrounding communities. The extension covers second-quarter Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Personal Income Tax (PIT), as well as May 2026 Value Added Tax (VAT), National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL), and Communications Service Tax (CST) returns. These returns were originally due on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. The GRA announced that the Commissioner-General approved a new filing deadline of Monday, July 6, 2026.
The GRA assured taxpayers that no late filing penalties would be imposed on returns submitted within the extended period, but cautioned that applicable sanctions would take effect after the July 6 deadline. The Authority encouraged taxpayers to use its digital platforms, particularly the Taxpayer Portal. Businesses experiencing operational difficulties were advised to contact their nearest Taxpayer Service Centre or tax office. The GRA stated the extension is a targeted relief measure to ease the burden on affected taxpayers while ensuring continued compliance.
