Scrap Dealers Association in Ashanti region to introduce ID cards to curb false accusations and attacks
Abdulai Jagala, Ashanti Regional President of the Scrap Dealers Association, disclosed that the association is planning to introduce identification cards for its members to help curb rising cases of false accusations and physical attacks. According to Mr. Jagala, "To prevent these unfortunate incidents, we are introducing ID cards to distinguish our members from impostors."
Members of the association continue to suffer attacks due to wrongful accusations in various communities. Mr. Jagala clarified that scrap dealers are not criminals but victims of a growing negative public image that has led to frequent harassment and attacks. He noted that the recent attack on some members at Ntensere in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District was unnecessary and avoidable, stressing that such incidents could have been prevented if the identification system had been in place.
No arrests have been made in connection with the mob action at Ntensere, which Mr. Jagala described as unfair.
