Sammy Gyamfi reveals Gold Board's record-breaking 104 tonnes, $10bn in 2025
Sammy Gyamfi revealed a historic milestone in Ghana's gold sector, stating that "We got 104 metric tons of ASM gold in 2025; before that, in 2024, we got just about 63 tons. What is attributable to the central bank is just 45 tons." He spoke on PM Express Business Edition with George Wiafe.
Sammy Gyamfi said that the Gold Board's gains result from a mix of policy and enforcement measures. He indicated that the surge in volumes, combined with favourable global prices, has translated into over $10 billion in foreign exchange inflows. He also stated that smuggling has been reduced considerably, but not eliminated, estimating it at 2%.
Sammy Gyamfi indicated that the Gold Board is projecting to hit a target of over 120 metric tons this year under the National Reserve Accumulation Program. He maintained that the fight against illegal trade continues.
