Ga Mantse praises MIIF over GH¢1.1bn profit and GH¢5.4bn royalty collections
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, commended the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) and its CEO, Justina Nelson, last Friday when she led a delegation from MIIF to pay a courtesy call on the Ga State ahead of the Homowo celebrations. The Ga Mantse said MIIF's 2025 profit of GH¢1.1 billion and increased royalty collections demonstrated the potential of a well-managed sovereign minerals investment institution to contribute meaningfully to the economy.
The visit was to pay homage to the Ga Mantse, support the celebration of the Homowo festival with the Ga State, and seek guidance and blessing for MIIF's duties. The Ga Mantse was enthused that royalties collected by the fund hit GH¢5.4 billion in 2025, up from GH¢4.9 billion in 2024, despite an amendment to the law setting up MIIF that reduced its retained royalties. He noted that under Mrs. Nelson's leadership, MIIF collected GH¢5.39 billion in the first six months of the year, which outweighed its performance for the entire 2025. The overlord of the Ga State said this performance was encouraging, particularly as MIIF's allocation of mineral royalties had been reduced from 77.6 percent to just two percent.
