Twum-Barimah Urges Dormaa East NPP Executives To Unite Grassroots

Former Dormaa East Member of Parliament Paul A. Twum-Barimah has called for unity and renewed grassroots work in the New Patriotic Party after the election of new constituency executives in Dormaa East.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, the former lawmaker congratulated the winners of the constituency executive elections and urged them to honour the confidence party members have placed in them. His message came as the NPP continues internal reorganisation at the constituency level ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Twum-Barimah said the new executives had earned their positions through hard work and dedication during the electoral process. He expressed confidence that they could provide the kind of leadership needed to strengthen the party in Dormaa East and support its wider rebuilding effort.
"Congratulations to all the newly elected constituency executive members. Your hard work and dedication have earned you the trust of the people, and we look forward to the positive change you'll bring," he wrote.
A call to justify party members' trust
The former MP's message focused heavily on responsibility. He reminded the newly elected officers that victory in an internal party election is not only a celebration, but also a duty to serve the people who voted for them and the party whose structures they now represent.
Constituency executives play a central role in Ghana's party politics. They are often the link between national leadership, parliamentary hopefuls, polling station organisers, electoral area coordinators and ordinary party members. Their work can influence mobilisation, communication, candidate support, dispute resolution and campaign discipline.
For Dormaa East, Twum-Barimah's statement placed the new executives at the centre of a broader task: rebuilding confidence, keeping members engaged and preparing the constituency for future electoral contests. He suggested that the party's strength in the area would depend on cooperation and the ability of leaders to bring members together after the competition of the internal polls.
His comments also reflected the delicate moment that often follows constituency elections. Internal contests can energise a party, but they can also leave divisions if winners and losing candidates fail to work together. By congratulating the winners while also recognising those who lost, Twum-Barimah sought to present the election as part of a shared party effort rather than a winner-takes-all contest.
Unsuccessful candidates urged to stay committed
Twum-Barimah also used his message to acknowledge party members who contested but did not win. He praised their effort and urged them not to withdraw from party work because of the outcome.
"To those who didn't win this time, you fought well and gave it your all. Your effort has not gone unnoticed," he said.
The former MP's remarks recognised a reality within constituency politics: unsuccessful candidates and their supporters remain important to party organisation after elections. Their networks, experience and local influence can either strengthen the party if properly engaged or create tension if ignored.
By encouraging them to remain committed, Twum-Barimah appealed for continuity and discipline within the NPP's local base. He said Dormaa East is fortunate to have courageous and committed members who are willing to serve the party, whether they win elected positions or not.
That message is likely to resonate within a party environment where grassroots energy is critical. Constituency executives must often rely on volunteers, loyal activists, former aspirants and local opinion leaders to keep political structures active between national elections. Losing candidates, if included, can become useful organisers and advisers rather than rivals on the sidelines.
Grassroots unity ahead of 2028
The NPP's constituency executive elections form part of the party's grassroots reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections. Twum-Barimah linked the Dormaa East outcome to that wider preparation, stressing that unity and collective effort would be essential if the party is to grow stronger in the constituency.
He expressed optimism that Dormaa East would continue to advance through cooperation among executives, members and other stakeholders. His comments pointed to a simple political test for the new leadership: convert internal election victory into effective organisation on the ground.
The immediate priorities for the new executives are likely to include rebuilding post-election unity, strengthening communication with polling station structures and maintaining active engagement with members who participated in the internal race. These tasks may determine whether the constituency can turn renewed leadership into practical political momentum.
- Paul A. Twum-Barimah congratulated the newly elected Dormaa East NPP constituency executives.
- He urged them to justify the trust placed in them by party members.
- He praised unsuccessful candidates and encouraged them to remain active in the party.
- He called for unity as the NPP reorganises its grassroots structures ahead of 2028.
For the newly elected officers, the congratulatory message also comes with a clear expectation. They have been given the mandate to lead, but their success will be judged by how well they organise, unite and serve the party at the constituency level.
Twum-Barimah's intervention therefore goes beyond a routine congratulatory note. It is a reminder that internal party elections are only the beginning. The real work starts after the ballots are counted, when leaders must bring supporters together, respect those who contested, and build the structures needed for the next national campaign.
