Nkwanta North health director appeals for upgrade of Sibi Central CHPS compound
Eric Agboka, Nkwanta North District Health Director, has called for the urgent upgrade of the Sibi Central CHPS Compound into a full-fledged health centre to improve healthcare delivery for residents. He made the appeal during the district's annual performance review held at Sibi, stressing that "upgrading the facility would enhance service delivery, improve maternal and child healthcare, and reduce avoidable referrals to distant centres."
Sibi Central is a predominantly farming community with a population of over 8,000. Mr. Agboka noted that Nkwanta North has only two health centres located at Damanko and Kpassa. He said elevating Sibi Central to a health centre would help bridge the healthcare gap. He also called on chiefs, community members, and other stakeholders to support efforts to expand and upgrade the facility.
Justice Believe Adjie, the nurse in charge of the Sibi Central facility, backed the call, describing the workload on staff as overwhelming due to the high patient turnout and limited resources. He said a larger and better-equipped facility would ease the burden on health workers and significantly improve service delivery.
Quick Summary
The Nkwanta North District Health Director is advocating for improvements to a local healthcare facility in the Oti Region. The current CHPS compound is struggling to keep up with the demands of the growing population - leaving many to wonder about the future of healthcare in the district.
