54,000-litre petrol tanker catches fire at Kawanpe on Tema-Buipe journey
A 54,000-litre petrol tanker caught fire at Kawanpe in the Kintampo North Municipality of the Bono East Region during a journey from Tema to Buipe. The driver reportedly heard a loud noise from the vehicle's rear axle, and shortly afterwards, noticed smoke and flames coming from the tanker.
Firefighters from the Buipe Fire Station were dispatched and used water and foam concentrate to bring the fire under control and extinguish the flames completely. The Ghana National Fire Service shared a post on Facebook about the incident. No casualties have been reported. After the fire was extinguished, the remaining petrol was transferred to another tanker, which then transported the recovered fuel to Buipe.
