Flooding: Emergency contacts to call as rains wreak havoc across Ghana
Emergency authorities urged the public to remain calm and contact the appropriate agencies for immediate assistance during disasters as heavy rains continue to trigger flooding in parts of the country. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) released a list of emergency contact numbers for residents affected by floods, fires, and other emergencies. These numbers are active at the Fire Service Monitoring Centre (FMC) for emergency response: 0299-340-383, 0299-340-643, 0299-340-998, 0291-713-235, 0302-772-446, 0302-959-561, and 0302-779-637. The GNFS can also be reached directly on 192 for fire outbreaks and rescue operations.
The National Ambulance Service can be reached through 112 or via 0501614877 and 0505982870. The Ghana Police Service urged the public to call 18555 or 112 to report emergencies, with additional lines 0302779300, 0302773906, and 0302777428. The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) advised using 112 for all disaster-related emergencies. Torrential rains continue to cause severe flooding, leading to deaths, destruction of homes and businesses, and displacement of residents.
