We will arrest the perpetrators behind the deadly attacks - Nkwanta MCE
Joseph Antwi Awal, the Municipal Chief Executive for Nkwanta South, vowed to bring to justice the perpetrators of a recent deadly attack. He said, "We will arrest them. The perpetrators of these heinous acts will face the full force of the law."
The attack claimed the lives of five residents in the municipality. The victims included 77-year-old Nana Achinake Iddrisu, 24-year-old Fusheni Achinake, and 17-year-old Nuhu Achinake, who were attacked while working on their farm and burnt beyond recognition. In a separate incident, two more individuals were burnt, and another sustained serious cutlass wounds, while two houses were destroyed by fire. The attacks occurred about six kilometers from the main township in remote farming communities. The deadly incidents have caused panic in the municipality, prompting some residents to flee their homes and leading to the closure of several schools.
Security has since been intensified, with a joint police and military force deployed from Accra to assist local law enforcement in tracking down the attackers. Authorities are conducting patrols, manhunts, and checkpoints to ensure the safety of residents and prevent further violence. Authorities have also urged residents to avoid spreading unverified information through mobile phones and social media.
