Woman found dead, mother unconscious with 12-year-old girl in critical condition at Effiduase
Freda Agyeiwaa Benson, a 26-year-old woman, was found dead inside a container shop at the Effiduase Airport community in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region. Her mother, Leticia Bamfoa, was found unconscious, while a 12-year-old girl, Juliet, was left in critical condition, reportedly vomiting blood. The three were rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital, where medical staff pronounced Freda dead on arrival. Freda's fiancé, Kofi Boakye, recounted that the victims had been preparing food in front of the container shop on Friday night ahead of a relative's wedding scheduled for the weekend and later spent the night inside the shop.
Alarm was raised the following morning after repeated knocks on the door went unanswered. Neighbours and relatives forced the door open and found Freda and her mother unresponsive, while the 12-year-old girl was conscious but extremely weak. Mr. Boakye said preliminary laboratory tests have ruled out suspected food poisoning, and doctors have indicated that further investigations, including an autopsy on the deceased, will be conducted. Community sources disclosed ongoing litigation over the parcel of land on which the container shop is situated and alleged that Freda had received several threats in the past.
