Woman arrested for branding Uber driver 'murderer' on Snapchat
Promise Yayra Asamani, 20, was arrested for allegedly publishing false information on Snapchat. Selasie Kwaku Anthonio became aware of the post on March 10, 2026, at about 1457 hours, after being alerted by his nephew, Godsway Tetteh. He received numerous distressing calls from family and customers, and his Uber account was subsequently blocked. Investigations led to the arrest of Stephanie Asamani, a sister of the suspect, on Friday, March 13, 2026, at her residence at Cambodia, Spintex, Accra. Stephanie said that on March 9, 2026, at about 1400 hours, she booked a ride from Spintex to Oyibi with Selasie Kwaku Anthonio as the driver. She claimed the driver asked her to change the drop-off location and made a phone call in Ewe, saying: "I am bringing the goods to the location, so wait." Stephanie also claimed she observed a rag and a hammer in the vehicle’s boot area. Promise Yayra Asamani reportedly said she published the post "to create awareness."
