'With God all things are possible' - Akufo-Addo after Anglican honour
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced his installation as an Honorary Lay Canon of the Anglican Diocese of Koforidua on Sunday, following the ceremony held at St Peter Anglican Cathedral on Passion Sunday, the fifth Sunday in Lent. He described the moment as a deeply spiritual milestone in his life of service. Akufo-Addo said the recognition came after a period of prayer and contemplation. He wrote, "On Passion Sunday, which is the fifth Sunday in Lent, I had the honour, upon prayerful consideration, to be installed as Honorary Lay Canon of the Anglican Diocese of Koforidua, in the Church of the Province of West Africa, at St Peter Anglican Cathedral, Koforidua."
As Lay Canon in the Anglican Communion, Akufo-Addo is honoured by the Diocese and Province for sterling work in public service and social justice to undertake special duties in health, evangelism, investments, education, tourism and hospitality. He attributed his achievements to faith and divine guidance, stating, "My experiences and service throughout my adult life have been a testimony of God's love, and a vindication of the words of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, as quoted at Matthew 19:26, which states, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'"
Akufo-Addo pledged to remain committed to the Church and its mission. He promised to continue living a life grounded in faith and service. He expressed gratitude to the diocesan bishop, Felix Odei Annancy, the officiating clergy, and the wider Anglican community in Ghana and beyond for the honour bestowed on him.
