Why the uproar? Abronye has been arrested, so what? Anthony Nukpenu slams NPP (Audio)
Anthony Nukpenu, Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, dismissed concerns surrounding the arrest and subsequent bail of some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Nukpenu downplayed claims that recent arrests were politically motivated. He called on security officials to be transparent about the circumstances surrounding the arrests. He described the situation as unnecessary theatrics, asking "CID boss Lydia Donkor and IGP Yohuno should come out and tell us if they carried out the arrest on the orders of someone at the Presidency."
His comments follow the arrest and bail of Abronye DC and the NPP Sunyani East Communications Officer, Abubakar Yakubu, popularly known as Baba Amando, by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID). Abronye DC was reportedly picked up by police over alleged threats directed at a judge presiding over a case at the Adentan Circuit Court, while Baba Amando is being investigated in connection with alleged false publication.
