Vacate now or stay at your own risk - Tema Kaiser flats residents told
Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, gave residents a choice to vacate immediately or remain at their own risk at the Kaiser Flats in Tema Community 4. The directive follows growing concerns over the structural integrity of the aging building, which authorities say now poses a serious threat to life. The minister instructed the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) to ensure that all residents either leave without delay or formally sign an agreement acknowledging the risks of staying.
The TDC had earlier arranged alternative accommodation in Kpone to facilitate the safe relocation of occupants and allow for the demolition and redevelopment of the deteriorating flats. A number of residents have declined to move despite the provision of new housing options.
