Unemployed man remanded for stealing
Sumaila Latif, a 26-year-old unemployed man, has been remanded into prison custody by the Toase District Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region for committing three offences at Atwima-Mim. He pleaded not guilty to charges of causing damage, unlawful entry, and stealing.
Police Inspector Kwaku Frimpong told the court, presided over by Robert Addo, that both complainants, Clement Akprebadigi and Latif, resided in the same house at Atwima-Mim. On March 04, 2026, at about 11 pm, Clement Akprebadigi returned home from work and saw his door broken into. He detected the theft of his DVD player, Samsung television set, itel key pad, multi-TV decoder, two smart phones, assorted men's wear, soft drinks and bottled water, as well as GH¢6,000 cash, all valued at GH¢10,000. The complainant suspected Latif and reported the matter to the Nkawie police, who then arrested Latif. In his caution statement, Latif denied the offences and mentioned one Labista as the true owner of the outfit, but failed to identify or lead police to locate the said Labista. During investigations in his room, some of the stolen items were identified by the complainant.
Sumaila Latif will be brought back to court on March 24 of this year.
