Two killed, seven injured in Mankessim-Accra Highway crash
Two people were killed and seven injured in a crash on the Mankessim-Accra Highway in the early hours of Thursday, August 6. The accident, involving a Toyota Voxy with registration number AS 8911-25, occurred shortly before 2:00 a.m. at Abor Junction, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). The Mankessim Fire Station received a distress call at 1:44 a.m., and firefighters arrived at the scene at approximately 2:01 a.m.
Emergency responders found nine occupants in the vehicle. Two of them-a man and a woman-had died. The remaining seven occupants, comprising five men and two women, sustained injuries and were transported to health facilities. Three of the injured were taken to the Mercy Women Catholic Hospital in Mankessim. The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to the Saltpond Government Hospital mortuary. The driver of the vehicle escaped without injuries, and authorities have not yet established the cause of the accident.
