TikToker 'Bawumia Ba' granted GHS 50K bail with two sureties
Aminat Mahama, known as "Bawumia Ba," has been granted a reduced bail of GH¢50,000 with two sureties by the Accra Circuit Court as investigations continue into allegations of offensive conduct. The court directed that one of the sureties must be a civil servant earning a monthly salary of at least GH¢2,500. Aminat Mahama was also ordered to surrender her Ghana Card to the police and report regularly to investigators until the conclusion of investigations.
This development follows her previous bail of GH¢1 million with two sureties, where one surety was required to be a civil servant earning not less than GH¢5,000. Aminat Mahama was first arrested in May 2026 by the Police's Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) after videos circulating on TikTok allegedly showed her making insulting comments against President John Dramani Mahama and making statements interpreted as threats against the President and his wife, Lordina Mahama. The Police also alleged some comments encouraged acts of violence.
