Three, including four-month-old baby, killed in accident at Gomoa Akotsi
Three people, including a four-month-old baby, died in a fatal accident on Thursday on the Winneba-Kasoa Highway between Gomoa Akotsi Junction and Buduatta Junction in the Central Region. The crash involved three vehicles- a private car with registration number DV 9546, a fuel tanker GN 4328-15, and a tipper truck GT 9026-26.
The private car was reportedly travelling from Winneba towards Kasoa when a pickup allegedly attempted a wrongful overtaking. The private car reportedly lost control and collided head-on with the fuel tanker coming from the opposite direction. Eyewitnesses say the tanker driver tried to apply emergency brakes, but a tipper truck following closely behind crashed into the tanker. Two occupants of the private car, including the driver and a female passenger, died on the spot. The four-month-old baby later died after being rushed to St. Gregory Hospital. The Gomoa Ojobi District Police Commander, DSP Samuel Asante, confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue, while the injured are receiving treatment.
