Three, including 2 UDS students arrested for alleged robbery in Tamale
The Tamale Police Command arrested three suspected armed robbers, including two Level 400 students from the University for Development Studies (UDS), Nyankpala and Dungu campuses. A search of the suspects' hostels recovered a pistol, an iPhone 17 valued at GH₵21,000, a jackknife, machetes, and a Haojue motorbike worth GH₵19,000.
The victim reported to police at the Bolga-Nasia road checkpoint that he was attacked while relieving himself in nearby bushes. He said the three armed men, wielding a pistol and a knife, stole his iPhone 17 Pro and a Haojue motorbike. The complainant was able to track the stolen iPhone and discovered that the suspects were heading toward the North East Region. Police at the checkpoint conducted a search, arresting one suspect along with the motorbike. Subsequent searches at their hostels led to the arrest of the other two suspects and the recovery of the stolen items. The suspects have been identified as Peter Abugri (24), Asuma Shaini (22), and Yakubu Wakasu (19).
Following investigations, the suspects were charged and remanded to prison. The case has been adjourned to April 19, 2026.
