Three arrested over murder and assault at Gbiniyiri in Savannah Region
Yaw Bamuah, Yaa Bokaa, and Kuma Simpor were arrested on March 14, 2026 at Gbiniyiri in the Savannah Region. The suspects were apprehended following an intelligence-led operation by the Inspector-General of Police's Special Intelligence Team in collaboration with the Savannah Regional Police Command. The arrests form part of ongoing investigations into a violent attack at Gbiniyiri which resulted in a murder and injuries to other individuals.
During interrogation, Yaw Bamuah reportedly admitted involvement in the attack and provided investigators with information about several alleged accomplices who are currently on the run. The individuals named by the suspect include Anuda Borour, Pobiyɛ, Bitunor Sansa and James Sanyuah. Preliminary findings indicate that the attack was allegedly carried out in retaliation for the killing of a relative of the suspects. The suspects believed their relative had been attacked and killed by robbers suspected to be Fulani. Following his arrest, Yaw Bamuah reportedly led police officers to his residence at Gbiniyiri, where a single-barrel shotgun with serial number BAT 2598-88 was recovered from a concealed location within the compound. Police also retrieved two live AAA cartridges during the search.
Authorities say the three suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be put before a court in due course. Police say efforts are underway to locate and arrest the alleged accomplices as investigations continue.
