Six suspects arrested, GH¢300,000 recovered after robbery on Portor-Gurumpe highway
The Bono East Regional Police Command arrested six suspects in connection with a highway robbery on the Portor-Gurumpe Highway and recovered GH¢300,000 allegedly stolen from a victim. The incident occurred on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at about 8:30 p.m., when personnel at the Portor Police Barrier received intelligence about a robbery.
Abdul Sadat Ali, 24, driving a Toyota Voxy with registration number AS 1541-25, was arrested at the scene. Abdul Sadat allegedly mentioned Samad Issahaka, 24, driver of a Kia Rhino truck with registration number AS 7337-23, leading to his arrest. Police investigations revealed that Yahaya Seidu, 35, owner of the Kia Rhino, was carrying a large sum of money to purchase cattle. The driver allegedly conspired with five others to rob his employer after becoming aware of the cash. The suspects reportedly used a toy pistol and followed the Kia Rhino from the Ashanti Region, intercepting it after the Portor Police Barrier and making away with GH¢300,000. A joint operation led to the arrest of four additional suspects: Abdul Rahman Mashud, 21; Asigri Avoka, 25; Awini Stephen, 19; and Faisal Salifu, 26.
