Six 'fake' national security operatives arrested in Agona Swedru
Six men were arrested after they allegedly impersonated National Security operatives on May 6, 2026, at S. I Jun Manufacturing Company Limited at Agona Akwakwa near Mankrong Nkwanta in the Agona Swedru District. The men reportedly stormed the manufacturing company wearing military and Ghana Immigration Service uniforms.
The suspects arrived in a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GW 8887-V. Three of the men were dressed in Ghana Immigration Service camouflage uniforms, one wore a military uniform, while the remaining two were in plain clothes. The suspects allegedly introduced themselves as National Security operatives and harassed and assaulted some Chinese nationals working at the company. Police officers found that three Chinese nationals identified as Man Guan, Chin Min and Ma Kaixiang had already been handcuffed by the suspects. The suspects have been identified as Agyemang Benjamin, 32, Mahama Iddrisu Dawuda Seidu, 48, Ofori Isaac, 35, Adom Bills, 32, Hayford Boafo, 47, and Ato Mchenry, 48.
The suspects are currently being held at the Agona Swedru District Police Headquarters as investigations continue. The Ghana Military Police, the Ghana Immigration Service and National Security have been contacted to verify whether any of the suspects have legitimate ties to the institutions they claimed to represent. The verification process is ongoing, while no formal charges have yet been announced.
