ShattaFest UK cancelled over overcrowding, safety concerns [Video]

ShattaFest UK was cancelled after police shut down the festival over safety concerns linked to overcrowding. According to UK police, the venue exceeded its approved capacity, forcing authorities to intervene after a stampede incident was reported. A UK police officer captured in a video confirming the cancellation said the decision was taken after a stampede left several people injured, stating: "There's been a massive accident, a stampede which led to quite a lot of people getting hurt, and for that reason and for public safety it has to be shut down."

The organisers of the event, Ghana Party in the Park, confirmed the disruption and advised patrons not to travel to the festival grounds. They stated: "Due to a major incident at the festival site, the event has been temporarily paused. Please do not travel to or come to the festival site until further notice." The organisers added that emergency services and relevant authorities were working to manage the situation and asked everyone to stay away from the area. ShattaFest was expected to feature Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale as one of the headline performers. Authorities are yet to confirm whether any injuries or arrests were recorded.
