Five people are feared dead and several others seriously injured after a tipper truck collided with a Sprinter bus at the Ofankor Barrier on the Accra-Kumasi Highway. ADO1 Alex King Nartey of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) stated that officers were dispatched to the scene to rescue passengers trapped inside the vehicle and assist survivors.
Five people have been confirmed dead, and several others sustained serious injuries. The crash left the Sprinter bus badly damaged, with several passengers trapped in the wreckage. One female victim, whose legs were reportedly severed in the crash, was evacuated from the scene by ambulance. The GNFS described the situation as volatile as its officers worked to safely extricate victims. The accident has disrupted traffic on the Accra-Kumasi Highway, with movement temporarily restricted. The GNFS advised motorists travelling from Pokuase and Amasaman towards Ofankor and Accra to use the outer lane and approach the area with extreme caution.
