Dawhenya and Community 25 are experiencing a prolonged water crisis, disrupting healthcare delivery, schooling, and household activities for about seven months. Communities including Gbetsile, Sackey Bediako, and Top 10 have been without a regular supply of pipe-borne water, forcing many households to depend on untreated borehole water. Health workers at the Sackey Bediako CHPS Compound stated, "Since we opened here for the container, we have no water. We want Ghana Water Company to come and give us water. At least the water should flow for us to get our work done."
The shortage is affecting maternal healthcare, with some expectant mothers traveling outside the community for antenatal care and delivery services. One resident delivered both her children at hospitals outside the community due to inadequate facilities and the persistent water shortage. Private health facilities are also struggling, with one operator reporting no water through its lines since January 2026, relying instead on water tankers.
