Sam George engages UNDP on digital flagship projects, AI and Fintech initiatives
Samuel Nartey George, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, reaffirmed the government's commitment to building an inclusive and resilient digital ecosystem during a meeting with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ghana. The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration on flagship digital initiatives, artificial intelligence for public service delivery, and Ghana's broader digital transformation agenda. He highlighted the role of the UNESCO Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM) in guiding the implementation of the government's digital agenda, stating that "the model has helped identify priority intervention areas while distinguishing initiatives that are ready for implementation from those requiring further development."
Niloy Banerjee, Head of the UNDP in Ghana, outlined progress on three major areas of collaboration: the Italian-supported digital flagship project, the MSME digital platform initiative, and the Japanese-backed artificial intelligence programme for public service delivery. He stressed the importance of increased government participation, including co-financing arrangements, to attract additional support from development partners and ensure successful implementation.
