Roads Minister begins fresh inspection of key projects in Eastern, Volta and Oti regions
Governs Kwame Agbodza, the Minister for Roads and Highways, has commenced another round of nationwide inspections, focusing on major road projects in the Eastern, Volta, and Oti regions. This monitoring exercise aims to assess project progress, evaluate contractor performance, and ensure road works meet approved standards and schedules. Key projects on his itinerary include the rehabilitation of the Atimpoku-Asikuma Junction road corridor, maintenance works on the Asikuma Junction-Have road, the reconstruction of the Have-Hohoe stretch, and rehabilitation of the Hohoe-Jasikan-Nkwanta-Dambai corridor.
The Minister has appealed to citizens to report stalled or abandoned road projects by submitting videos and photographs through social media or directly to the Ministry. He stated that "such reports from the public will support the Ministry's monitoring efforts and help ensure contractors remain on site and complete projects in accordance with agreed timelines and quality standards." Earlier inspections led to the replacement of some underperforming contractors, while others were directed to speed up construction or face contract termination.
