Power supply to stabilise between April and September - ECG
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has assured Ghanaians of improved and stable power supply nationwide between April and September. Dr. Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, the General Manager for External Relations, gave the assurance during the commencement of a transformer replacement and upgrade exercise at the Teshie Substation in Accra. He acknowledged the ongoing power challenges experienced by customers but indicated that efforts are underway to resolve them.
Dr. Ayiku Ayiku expressed confidence that the current issues will be significantly addressed within the stated period, leading to a more reliable electricity supply across the country. He explained that the ongoing transformer upgrade exercise is aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening the power distribution system. Recent disruptions linked to challenges at the Akosombo Substation have affected supply to several areas, but measures are being taken to restore stability.
Ing. Francis Kofi Atsyatsya, the General Manager for Sub-Transmission in Accra, disclosed that the upgrade exercise will be extended to Kumasi and other parts of the country. He said the nationwide exercise is expected to enhance the overall performance of the power distribution network and improve service delivery to consumers.
