Police foil planned robbery attack on Ejura-Nkoranza Highway
Ghana Police Service foiled a planned robbery attack on April 9, 2026, along the Ejura-Nkoranza Highway near Mimenaso No. 2 in the Ejura-Sekyedomase Municipality. The operation followed intelligence that a six-member robbery gang was planning to ambush and rob commuters.
The gang was reportedly led by Mahamadu Fuseini, known as "Shaini". The suspects, positioned in a nearby bush, opened fire upon noticing the approaching police team, mistaking them for potential victims. The police returned fire, and one suspect was shot. The remaining gang members, including the alleged leader, escaped into the bush. A pump-action gun loaded with four live cartridges, two spent cartridges, and three assorted keypad mobile phones were retrieved from the scene. Two additional live cartridges and a talisman were found on the deceased suspect.
The body of the deceased suspect has been deposited at the Atebubu Government Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. Police say efforts are underway to track down and arrest the remaining suspects involved in the planned robbery.
