Police arrest four suspected drug peddlers, seize firearm and suspected narcotics in Ashanti Region

The Ghana Police Service arrested four suspected drug peddlers and recovered a locally manufactured firearm, suspected narcotic substances, and cash during an intelligence-led operation at Kunsu Township in the Ashanti Region. The operation was carried out by the Mankranso District Police Command in the early hours of Friday, June 26, 2026. The suspects were identified as Issaka Musah, 22; Amankwah Emmanuel, 25; Kwame Boateng, 32; and Appiah Prince, 23.

Items retrieved included one locally manufactured pistol loaded with two BB rounds of ammunition, quantities of suspected Tramadol, red capsules, dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp, and a whitish powdery substance wrapped in paper suspected to be cocaine. Officers also recovered GH¢5,647.40, believed to be proceeds from the alleged illicit drug trade. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects admitted ownership of the recovered items. The four suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and will be arraigned before court after investigations are concluded.
