Paul Afoko vows to reunite NPP and lead party back to power in 2028
Paul Awentami Afoko, former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), pledged to lead the party back to government in the 2028 general election if he is re-elected as National Chairman. He expressed confidence that the NPP could regain the trust of Ghanaians, insisting that the party remained capable of returning to power through unity, discipline, and a strengthened grassroots structure. He spoke in an interview Akoma in Kumasi on Thursday, August 6.
Mr. Afoko stated his decision to seek a return as National Chairman followed extensive consultations with party elders, former and current national executives, Members of Parliament, regional executives, as well as youth, women, and grassroots groups across the country. He said his campaign would be anchored on the "Three Rs" - Reunite, Rebuild, and Recapture. He appealed to delegates to support his candidature, promising transparent, inclusive, and selfless leadership that would place the interests of the party above personal ambition.
