Paul Awentami Afoko interacted with other NPP aspirants and party executives in Jamasi. Mr. Afoko, who is seeking a return to the National Chairmanship position, was in Jamasi to commiserate with Kwadwo Okyere Mpiani, a former Chief of Staff to John Agyekum Kufuor, following the death of his mother, Obaapa Elizabeth Owusu Kwaaso.
Also present were former National Organiser of the NPP, John Boadu; Ghanaian diplomat, Edward Akwasi Boateng; former Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng; and former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko, all of whom have declared their intentions to contest for the party's National Chairmanship. Mr. Afoko was also seen interacting with former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The former chairman used the occasion to engage his fellow contenders and both current and former party executives, emphasising unity and cohesion within the party.
The aspirants were seen chatting and sharing light moments, drawing admiration from onlookers, some of whom remarked that the unity they had long desired within the party appeared to be gradually returning. The group also took turns to greet Mr. Mpiani and express their condolences to the bereaved family. The mortal remains of Obaapa Elizabeth Owusu Kwaaso had earlier been interred at the family house following a requiem Mass at St Michael's Catholic Church, Jamasi. Obaapa Elizabeth Owusu Kwaaso, who died at the age of 103, gave birth to Mr. Mpiani at the age of 18.
