NYA organises clean-up exercise at Kenyasi No. 1 to promote sanitation

The Ahafo Regional Office of the National Youth Authority (NYA) organised a clean-up exercise at Kenyasi No. 1 in the Asutifi North District as part of activities marking the 2026 Youth Month celebration. The exercise aimed to promote environmental cleanliness and improve sanitation in the community. Participants included senior high school students, trainees under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP), personnel of the Ghana Prisons Service, and officials from the Department of Environmental Health. Volunteers desilted gutters clogged with sand and refuse and swept the principal streets of the town.

Nicholas Sowah, the Ahafo Regional Director of the National Youth Authority, expressed concern over the increasing rate at which some Ghanaians litter the environment, describing the practice as a major public health threat. He urged young people, particularly students, to become ambassadors of good sanitation. Sulemana Baba Amadu, the Ahafo Regional Coordinator of the National Apprenticeship Programme, commended the NYA for organising the exercise, stating it would help address sanitation challenges in the region. He stressed that keeping the environment clean should be a daily responsibility.
