NPP to sanction aspirants who campaign with insults in Ahafo regional elections
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will take disciplinary action against any aspirant who resorts to insults and personal attacks during campaigns ahead of the party's regional elections in the Ahafo Region. Ahafo Regional Chairman and aspiring candidate for the same position, Kwabena Owusu Sekyere, stated the party would not tolerate campaign messages that undermine unity or violate its code of conduct. He stressed that issue-based campaigning must take precedence over abusive rhetoric. Campaigns characterized by insults and unsubstantiated allegations would breach the party's code of ethics and create divisions ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The party has mechanisms in place to monitor the conduct and campaign messages of all aspirants. Any candidate found engaging in insults or making unfounded allegations will be referred to the party's disciplinary committee for sanctions. Chairman of the vetting committee and Deputy National Youth Organiser of the NPP, Isaac Jay-Hyde, expressed satisfaction with the calibre of the 30 aspirants who appeared before the committee during the two-day vetting exercise at Goaso. He assured aspirants of a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
