K.K. Fosu reaffirmed his intention to contest the Akuapem North parliamentary seat as an independent candidate in the 2028 general election. He stated he is confident of defeating incumbent Member of Parliament Sammy Awuku, saying, "If Sammy Awuku likes, he should leave the NPP and come to meet me face-to-face. I am going as independent candidate." When asked about Sammy Awuku representing the NPP, K.K. Fosu replied, "the NPP is even dead. That is what people say."
Sammy Awuku responded on Facebook, writing, "KK Fosu, m'aya da. Please get me a campaign track before you pick the nomination forms. Nice weekend bro." K.K. Fosu first announced his intention to enter parliamentary politics ahead of the 2024 general election but did not file his nomination due to a motor accident. He also decided to step aside when he learned Sammy Awuku would be contesting on the ticket of the NPP. Sammy Awuku won the NPP's parliamentary primary for Akuapem North in January 2024 and subsequently won the seat in the December 2024 general election, succeeding Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, who had represented the constituency since 2017.
