No SHS student will be on double track by 2027-Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama announced on Friday, July 17, during his 'Resetting Ghana Tour' in the Volta Region, that the government intends to end the double-track system in senior high schools by 2027. He stated, "We want by 2027, no child in secondary school in Ghana should be on double track." This objective will be achieved through the construction of 16 new secondary schools and the expansion of facilities in existing institutions.
The program will be financed by a $300 million World Bank facility, which has received Cabinet approval and will be presented to Parliament. This facility is part of two loan agreements recently approved by Cabinet. President Mahama noted that the government had not contracted any loans on the international market during its first one and a half years in office. The first of the two approved facilities is a $500 million loan.
