Nkwanta Violence: IGP deploys armoured vehicles as five confirmed dead
Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno has beefed up security following violent attacks in the Nkwanta South Municipality. On Thursday, March 26, 2025, the police announced that "two armoured vehicles with men from the National Police Operations" were deployed to Nkwanta. The deployment occurred overnight to beef up security, following renewed violent attacks.
A joint security operation recovered five bodies from two separate locations in the Nkwanta South Municipality. The bodies were identified as three males and two females. The joint team consisted of personnel from the Police, Military, the BNI, the Defence Intelligence and GNFS.
The police urged residents to "Remain calm and to cooperate with security agencies by providing any relevant information that may assist with the ongoing investigations." The public is further urged to desist from misinformation and acts that have the potential to flare up passions".
