Nine suspects arrested in connection with Fiapre Zongo robbery
The Bono Regional Police Command arrested nine suspects in connection with an alleged robbery attack that claimed one life at Fiapre-Zongo in the Sunyani Municipality of the Bono Region. The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at about 8:00 p.m., when armed men reportedly attacked a mobile money vendor at Fiapre. The mobile money vendor, Amina Abu, 30, and three others - Khadija Abu, 23; Anifa Tanko, 24; and Ibrahim Osei, 40 - sustained gunshot injuries. Police also found an unidentified man wearing a black mask behind Ibrahim Osei's house with severe injuries.
All five victims were rushed to the Bono Regional Teaching Hospital for treatment. Ibrahim Osei was pronounced dead on arrival, while the unidentified man later died while receiving medical care. Preliminary police investigations indicate that the suspects made away with GH¢30,000 belonging to Amina Abu. Police recovered six spent BB cartridges from the scene. Further investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly disembarked from a cattle truck travelling towards Berekum to carry out the robbery. The Twumasikrom Police checkpoint was immediately alerted to intercept two cattle trucks, leading to the arrest of nine suspects. The suspects are expected to be processed for court.
