New Burma Camp facilities to boost GAF readiness - Ag. Defence Minister
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Acting Minister for Defence, reaffirmed Government's commitment to modernising military infrastructure to improve the welfare and operational readiness of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Wednesday at Burma Camp in Accra. He gave the assurance at the commissioning of the Butler Barracks accommodation and office complex, the Central Ordnance Depot Headquarters, the School of Ordnance, and new facilities for the Ghana Armed Forces Central Band and Music School. Dr. Forson stated that the completion of new accommodation, office, and training facilities at Burma Camp reflected Government's resolve to provide military personnel with infrastructure that supported operational efficiency and improved living and working conditions.
The facilities comprise accommodation blocks, office complexes, classrooms, rehearsal halls, and welfare amenities for the beneficiary units. The Ghana Armed Forces Central Band also received a modern music hall and auditorium to support its ceremonial, training, and professional responsibilities. Dr. Forson reiterated Government's commitment to completing other strategic defence infrastructure projects, including the Afari Military Hospital. He commended the Military High Command, the Ministry of Defence, the contractor, Unique Development Limited, and the project implementation team for completing the project. Dr. Forson urged military personnel to protect and maintain the facilities, describing them as national assets.
